I just added another 'lacy scarf' pattern to my Etsy shop. This one is fun to make because it is easy and it makes up fast. Perhaps a little old-ladyish? I can't really tell, but hopefully my teenage niece as well as my mom will like it.

I think people from a certain generation or two connect lavender (both the color and the scent) with little old ladies, esp when combined with lacy/feminine looking things. So that might be why you think it looks old-ladyish. My guess is that it might look younger to you if done in a strong, trendy color... I think it's pretty, though!
